The 6 Meter link in Nanuet NY. is a Midland 70-0520cwb. I call this radio the Chicken Whistler. First off these radios are deaf on Six. However if you remove the ferrite slugs from the coils in the front end and make up some new ones, I found brass to be the best, it will hear real well. It's easy to make new slugs out of 10-32 brass screws.


 

This is just a pic. showing some fooling around with aluminum. The aluminum is better but brass is the best.

Here are a few shots of the RSS.  First off you have to hex edit the software to let you even enter 6 Meter freq's. Then you have to make the radio think it is just a 70-520c and not a cwb. c=high split vhf lowband. cwb is high split wideband lowband.
